Nature lovers, beach combers and sports enthusiasts alike are going to love this exciting extended stay in paradise. You’ll enjoy the thrill of rafting the exciting class-III-IV rapids of the Pacuare, one of the world’s best runs white-water runs.
Your river adventure will be tempered with a stay in a serene Lodge in the Pacuare River. Then you’ll shift gears as you head up the scenic Talamanca Mountain Range and nestle into the Savegre Lodge. Famous for its high-elevation birding and incredibly green surroundings, the crystalline Savegre River will sing you to sleep in these magical surroundings.
From there you’ll head to Manuel Antonio, home of the world-famous beach of the same name. White sand, blue waters and the area’s most unique hotel all await you. Be entranced by the rhythmic crashing of the surf as you watch the sun set over an expansive Pacific, all subtle luxury of some of Costa Rica’s finest hotels. Nothing could be more perfect.
Itinerary
Day 1 - SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA.
Arrival at Juan Santamaria International Airport. A representative from Swiss Travel Service will meet and greet you upon arrival and will transfer you to the Grano de Oro Hotel in San Jose for overnight.
Day 2 - SAN JOSE - PACUARE RIVER.
After being picked up at your hotel in San Jose, you will be driven to the Pacuare River for a two-day, one-night rafting package. The Pacuare River is considered by many rafters to be one of the world’s five-best Class-III/IV rafting trips. At the beginning of our river trip, there will be professional guides and the equipment waiting for your arrival. Once in the water, you'll experience the exhilaration of riding the waves on this wild and scenic river, which courses through a tropical wilderness of dense vegetation and steep gorges that rise majestically above its banks. When we arrive at our overnight destination, you will find a jungle oasis nestled in the middle of an enchanting and captivating rainforest. Surrounded by nature in its purest and most primitive state, a jungle lodge with comfortable facilities which provides an environmentally friendly comfort and relaxation. Your sleeping accommodations are in one of our elegantly rustic bungalows.
Day 3 - PACUARE RIVER - TURRIALBA AREA.
After breakfast, we launch the rafts again for the last part of our trip. Rafting becomes even more exciting today as you use the skills and experience gained on this trip. Your guides will stop the rafts along the journey and lead you up paths and side streams that open onto pristine waterfalls and natural water slides. Here you can swim, splash, and live it up! Lunch will be served along the river, and when we reach the take out, you can change into dry clothes in our private restroom facilities before a representative from the rental car company delivers your 4WD car in order to continue the rest trip on your own. Drive to Turrialba on your own and stay for two nights at Casa Turire Hotel. Casa Turire is a Plantation House that was built in a colonial style in the hearth of agricultural area of Turrialba, blessed as well by the surrounding waters of the Reventazon River and the Turrialba mountains.
Day 4 - TURRIALBA AREA.
Day at leisure to enjoy optional activities in the hotel. Turrialba Volcano, tropical forests, archaeological visits, hiking and much more are all available.
Day 5 - TURRIALBA - SAN GERARDO DE DOTA.
Departure from Casa Turire to Savegre Mountain Lodge. A farm at an altitude of 7000 ft above sea level in the mountains of San Gerardo de Dota near Cerro de la Muerte, one of Costa Rica’s highest peaks. The lodge is located approximately 87 KM (a 2-hour drive) from San Jose heading southeast in the Pan-American Highway. This area is the natural habitat for an immense diversity of flora and home of the resplendent Quetzal, which inhabits the area year round. This hideaway is perfect for birdwatchers, nature lovers and couples who want to be away from it all. The misty, beautiful surroundings provide a unique opportunity to enjoy the views and sounds of the cloud forest, as well as discover the wonders of Costa Rica’s unspoiled ecology. Two nights in a Junior Suite room with breakfast included.
Days 6 - SAN GERARDO DE DOTA AREA.
Free day to relax or do optional activities in the area. Lodging at Savegre Lodge.
Day 7 - SAN GERARDO DE DOTA - MANUEL ANTONIO BEACH.
After breakfast, take the road to Manuel Antonio Beach, where you’ll enjoy three nights at the Parador Hotel. The rooms overlook the rainforest and Manuel Antonio’s pristine Pacific coastline. Manuel Antonio area is a great combination of a beach destination with a great natural surrounding.
Day 8 - MANUEL ANTONIO AREA.
Day at leisure. You may visit world-famous Manuel Antonio National Park, which is surrounded by exotic beaches and luxuriant tropical forest. Tours and water sports are available in the area.
Day 9 - MANUEL ANTONIO AREA.
Day at leisure to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. Overnight at Parador Boutique & Resort Spa Hotel.
Day 10 - MANUEL ANTONIO – SAN JOSE.
Drive back to San Jose and overnight at Grano de Oro Hotel in standard room with breakfast included. Car rental return this afternoon at the hotel.
Day 11 - DEPARTURE DAY.
Transfer from Grano de Oro to Juan Santamaria International Airport. Departure from Costa Rica.
